Taming The Villainesses
Chapter 211.2

(EP-211.2) #1

211 – Prophet #1

This prickly attitude wasn’t sitting well with me. What was with her, acting like I’d done something heinous? So, I slowly raised my palm…

Pak-.

Then, I slapped Lily on the cheek. Said spot under the black cloth felt satisfyingly firm. The smack felt good.

“You, did you just hit me!?”

She clutched her cheek, seemingly in utter shock. Her face was hidden behind the cloth, but I could imagine her seething with anger.

But in this situation, shouldn’t I be the one getting angry? I decided to give her a piece of my mind.

“You know better than anyone else why. You might have fooled the others, but not me. And don’t think this ends with just a slap.”

“This, this Demon Monk…! Monster bastard…! You’ll see…!”

Lily retrieved a small, round bead from the pouch-like thingy on her waist. I wondered if it was candy, but then she forcefully threw it to the ground.

It went off with a poof, enveloping the place in smoke.

“Sir Theo, are you okay?”

“I think it’s just a smoke bomb.”

Once the smoke cleared, Mirna, covering her face with a handkerchief, checked on my safety. The smoke was irritating, but fortunately, it didn’t seem toxic.

“It must have been that kid.”

Mirna rattled on about the missing Lily. It seemed that she already figured out who was behind the assassins in the mansion. She was sharp.

* * *

Elga was sitting on the bed, soaking her feet in a basin filled with cold water.

There were ice and petals floating around. Only an aristocrat, or a noble lady in this case, would use ice, something commoners didn’t even get to see, for a foot bath.

“Lily? Well, that’s a new name for me. Was there such a person?”

Seeing this, Mirna snorted.

“As it turns out, I knew it was a waste of time trying to talk to you Lady Lioness.”

“So what!? Hey, if you hate it so much, get out! And who allowed you to barge into my room? Can’t you see I’m resting?”

“As if you hadn’t done worse. How dare you come into my mansion and break the gargoyles. Because of your actions, we could have-”

Jojaljojal-.

As Mirna and Elga started raising their voices, I was snapped out of my thoughts.

“Elga-nim, you also don’t know anything about the servant next to Aira-nim?”

“Well, I don’t think so. Anyway, how is it, did you make up with Aira? I knew it would be like this. This just makes things difficult for everyone.”

Elga continued.

“There’s already the problem with Serazade. And now people of the same kingdom can’t unite, and are even fighting each other. Anyway, is everything settled now?”

“Well….”

Elga didn’t seem to like my vague response, as she furrowed her brow slightly.

“If it’s settled, it’s settled. If not, it’s not. Why are you being so wishy-washy?”

“Lady Lioness, you have lived without inconvenience. You think it’s that simple. It seems you don’t understand that things in life aren’t always neatly divided.”

Mirna’s sharp response might have seemed a bit rude, but this time, she was right. Human affairs were often uncertain, with endings not as clear-cut as one might hope.

So did Aira and I reconcile? It didn’t seem so.

Since Aira had drifted off into slumber mid conversation, there was really no proper conclusion.

“We’ll have time together tomorrow, we’ll figure it out,” Elga said, stretching lazily. I had the same thought, but the problem arose the next day.

━And now, before we begin the opening ceremony of this year’s Pre-summer Festival, let us hear a message from Her Majesty Queen Aira Von Tarantera. Um.. Is Her Majesty Aira present?

It was the morning of the start of the week-long festival. The emcee on stage looked around, but Aira was nowhere to be seen.

Just then, someone appeared on stage and whispered something in the emcee’s ear.

Sukduk Sukduk-.

━Ah, my apologies everyone. It seems that there had been a miscommunication regarding the proceedings of the event. Now, before we begin the opening ceremony, let us hear from Empress Serazade of Tureuki….

“What’s going on? Why isn’t Aira here?”

Elga frowned as she watched the event that Aira was supposed to lead being taken over by Serazade.

As Mirna and I watched from the sidelines, we could only shake our heads in disbelief at the incomprehensible situation.

Not only this, but Aira was also absent from the afternoon’s invitation event and the completion ceremony of the grand monument.

No matter how arbitrary Aira was, her animosity towards Serazade was genuine. Hence, I couldn’t understand why she would skip these events.

So, as the afternoon sun was slowly setting, we headed towards Aira’s dormitory.

Knocking on the door, I heard movement from inside.

“Aira-nim, it’s Theo Gospel. Are you there?”

━The Queen is resting right now—! She said she doesn’t want to see anyone, so please leave immediately—!

Wasn’t this the voice of that servant, Lily? This reminded me of the way a mother bird, with feathers ruffled, would protect her nest.

“Still, I’d like to speak with Aira-nim. Please open the door.”

━Didn’t you hear? Aira-nim is resting!

It seemed like there was no way to get through. At that moment, Elga, who had been quietly listening to the conversation beside me, nudged my shoulder.

“Hey, step aside for a moment.”

Then, she grabbed the doorknob and turned it.

The luxurious and antique golden doorknob then shattered from Elga’s strong grip, falling to the ground.
